Our holistic therapy massage is based on the Swedish system of massage which helps you relax, re-align and rejuvenate. There are many positive aspects to receiving massage therapy on an ongoing basis, and with the busy lives we lead, we can all benefit from a little stress-management. The experienced, professional therapists at The Etherow Clinic provide exceptional care and will design an effective customized massage treatment to address your individual needs.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone therapy dates back more than 3000 years to ancient India and China. The use of heated or chilled stones on the body, to aid the health of an individual can be found in many cultures, but the Chinese have used these methods extensively. Jade, basalt, marble and other stones can be used. However, basalt stones are most commonly used as they are hard, black volcanic rock and are the most useful, as they do not lose heat quickly.

Smooth Basalt hot stones are incorporated into a body massage routine by being placed on the body and used in conjunction with massage techniques.

G5 MASSAGE THERAPY - NEW!

HELPS TREAT CELLULITE AND ADDS BENEFIT TO DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

The G5 Massage Therapy System has been the "Gold Standard" in the physiotherapy and sports medicine industries for more than 45 years. This method uses a mechanical massager which can go much deeper than a therapist can.

CELLULITE TREATMENT

Applying a combination of the G5 massager and manual massage, this treatment helps to tone the skin by mobilising toxins thereby stimulating detoxification of the lymphatic system. This process helps the body to breakdown fatty deposits, which the body stores and gives the appearance of cellulite.

To complete this treatment, Birch Cellulite oil, made from plant extracts and natural plant oils, is massaged into the area, which helps to support the toning effects of the skin. *For this treatment to be beneficial, we recommend having a minimum of six (weekly) sessions to start with, concentrating on two areas (ie. thighs and buttocks).

DEEP TISSUE/SPORTS MASSAGE

Incorporating both manual massage and using the G5 massager on a high frequency vibrational setting, this stimulates the body to release endorphins, resulting in an analgesic effect to the area of treatment. For keen sports people and athletes, this method is excellent for muscular aches and pains, helping to relieve cramps, relax tight muscles and flush out lactic acid build-up.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system that has been practised throughout India for over 5000 years. It is a holistic healing system which combines natural therapies and encompasses the mind, body and spirit. It strives to restore balance and inner harmony thus to improve the health of an individual.

The aim of Indian head massage is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. It can help to increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improve blood circulation and lymphatic flow, free knots of muscular tension, relax connective tissue, and aid in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy widely accepted in the UK and recognised by the NHS, many GP's and hospices. By applying pressure to the reflex points on the hands and/or feet, the blood circulation is improved, the body relaxes and organs and glands become balanced. Doctors agree that over 75% of our health problems can be linked to nervous stress and tension. Reflexology is fantastic for relaxing and clearing these blockages.

Reflexology is not a beauty therapy or a foot massage; it is a clinical treatment with proven results. It is totally safe for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly, for pregnant women and those undergoing chemotherapy.

A typical foot reflexology treatment lasts 45-50 minutes and it is generally recommended that a course of 4-6 weekly treatments is considered, however the frequency of treatments is up to you, and may vary depending on your state of health and long term objectives.

Hopi Candle Therapy

What are Hopi Ear Candles?

Thermal Auricular Therapy (also known as Hopi Ear Candles) is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to treat a variety of conditions.

How do Hopi Ear Candles work? The candles are made from natural ingredients. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after.

What are Hopi Ear Candles used for?

Though results may vary, some of our patients have reported Hopi Candles to be helpful with:
  • Excessive or compacted wax in the ears
  • Irritation in ears and sinuses
  • Pressure regulation in cases of : sinusitis/rhinitis/glue ear/colds/flu/headaches/migraine
  • Energetic revitalisation in cases of hearing impairment
  • Relaxing and calming effect in cases of stress
  • Noises in the ears, ringing, tinnitus
